Evening Song

Sitting in the swing, eating cherry ice cream.  As I gaze about the garden, my eyes are drawn to the sky.  Above me, lazily drifting on the breeze is a bird.  How free was my first thought and should I cover my ice cream was my second.  My next thought was, wonder what it is like to do what you want, when you want with no restrictions at all.  Bodily functions, there is no embarrassment if there's gas or noise.  True freedom to just be.  Wow,  that would be wonderful.  No to-do-list or have to get done right now things.  If you are hungry, just eat, whever, or what ever is right there in front of you.  What would you be giving up for that freedom?  The joy of my garden, the happiness of song, the pureness of a baby on your shoulder.  The kindness of being human.  For mere freedom?  With all the harshenss that comes from being human, there is no joy or happiness that comes from being wild and free.  Survival would be the return for freedom.  Then let us be happy in our humanness.  Embrace the joy that is only for us, the humanness with all it's good and bad.  I would not trade one day in my garden and the joy of watching this world grow, for one day of wild freedom.  Give out more than you've been given.  Remember, to hand out kindness rather than justice for most of the time, we have only part of the story.  Grow, Be Blessed
